Body Hair – Why do we need hair?
Body hair
Body hair: your body, your choice
In the dialogue about one’s body and comfort, it’s important to remember that each person is unique – and that includes non-binary people. Body hair is something many of us have, regardless of gender identity. It is important for everyone to be comfortable in their own skin, whether they choose to shave or decide to leave their hair natural.
Understanding the function of hair
Body hair has its own functions – it protects the skin, regulates body temperature and can act as a barrier to microbes. They are also part of our expression and can play a role in how our identity is perceived by others. For non-binary people, as for anyone else, body hair choices can be a conscious form of self-knowledge and self-acceptance.
Your body, your rules
The key aspect is to have control over our own bodies and decide what is best for us. There is no single “correct” way to care for or present body hair – what is right for one person may not be for another. You decide how you feel most authentic.
Communication and boundaries
It’s worth talking openly about your preferences and boundaries, both with your partners and in the broader social context. You decide what information you share and what choices you make about your body. Remember: conversation – yes, coercion – no.
Hug your natural self
Body hair is a normal, natural part of our being, and each of us has the right to express ourselves in the way we feel most comfortable. Remember that no matter what path you choose, it is important that it is a path chosen by you and for you.
